Before you begin

Not every truth can be defined.
Not every truth can be argued.
Some can only be shown.
Faith in Anything?
Is your faith melting? Faith in anything?
Faith in God or church?
Faith in our country, its leaders, or the political system?
Faith in your long-held convictions?
Faith in science and technology?
Faith in the future?
Faith that your children will be okay?
If your core cries out for clarity, but you’re not sure if the truth can be known, even if it really exists, then this parable is for you.
This is not a self-help manual with lists of answers, nor just a story to entertain. It is a journey to help you clear up your thinking process. Not What to Think, but How to Think.
The parable is a compass, a guide, a companion in your quest. But how can a parable be a companion?
A parable is a story on more than one level. There is the obvious story, and also a totally different (but intertwined) deeper story. A personal story. This parable with four conflicting mentor voices can become your inner mentor.
Yet, you remain in control. You decide what to take as literal and what as a metaphor. As you navigate these choices, something happens. You begin to see yourself from a fresh angle.
A parable is a window that turns into a mirror.
As you begin reading Chapter One, remember that it is about more than a school reunion and a handful of friends. See if you spot how the story overlaps with shifts in Western culture and Western Christianity.
Godspeed on your quest. May your thirst be satisfied.
